Power Prevails over Justice
The headlines for today...

Bush Commutes Libby's Sentence

and

China Strikers Beaten by Thugs - A group of armed men attacked as many as 300 migrant construction workers who were striking over unpaid wages.

Is it just me or is there something seriously off balance in how justice works in this world? The powerful protect their friends from consequences and use violence against the poor and oppressed. Our systems are so broken...

    Look at the words you used ... it's that we have "systems" ... we don't have justice. The systems become more important than the justice or the people.

    It becomes acceptable to beat immigrant workers because they are creating a wrinkle in the efficiency of the agro-industrial system that they are supposed to be feeding.

    We will not have justice until we convince the "powers that be" that systems are not in their best interest.

    9 So justice is far from us,
    and righteousness does not reach us.
    We look for light, but all is darkness;
    for brightness, but we walk in deep shadows.

    10 Like the blind we grope along the wall,
    feeling our way like men without eyes.
    At midday we stumble as if it were twilight;
    among the strong, we are like the dead. Isaiah 59:9-10
